I don’t like to lie to students or those who ask me about my classes. Learning any language takes time and the speed at which you learn will depend on how easy it is for you personally, where you start from, and how many hours you dedicate to it. I don’t just mean taking classes regularly, with me or whatever teacher you decide, but also whether you watch audio-visual content in English and/or read something in this language.

There are people who hate reading and get very scared when I tell them that it would be good for them to read in English. But you don’t necessarily have to read a book; it can be as simple as opening a newspaper in English to the Sports section and reading the soccer news in English. If you can make this your daily routine, you will progress much faster.

Of course, if you don’t like soccer there are thousands of sources on the internet where you can find reading that is related to what you like the most, like internet forums where people talk about their Korean pop idols or whatever you’re into. Go to reddit.com and you’ll get hooked on forums that talk about your favorite series or the dietary supplements you’re taking. But read the discussions in English. If you join my classes, ask me and together we’ll look for ways in which you can find that English content that you might enjoy the most, matching your personal preferences. And if you can’t join a class now, that’s okay. Search for your favorite topics online in English.

If you are even braver you have the possibility of joining guided tours in museums, choosing the English speaking option for the tour, provided that you live in a city where there are museums that have this option.

If you use social networks, don’t follow only accounts that are in your native language. It is important that from now on you follow all the people who have similar interests to yours and who write in English. In this way you can spend hours reading the comments of the person you are following and also the comments written by all their followers and without even realizing it, you will be reading in English without having to pick up a book, if books are not your thing.

Of course, if you do like reading books or want to try to like it, I will be happy to make suggestions of all kinds, according to your interests and your level, to help you achieve your goal of reading a little bit in English every day. It all adds up and it all counts!
